Before we closed on a seed-stage SaaS we asked Iurii to look under the hood. He gave us a written report in five days: what was solid, what was held together with tape, and roughly what it would cost to fix the worst of it. He flagged a scaling bottleneck in their database layer that the founders hadn't mentioned, and rated the rest realistically instead of either rubber-stamping it or scaring us off. That report changed how we structured the deal.

Technical Due Diligence

Before you wire money or sign an LOI, you need to know what you're actually buying. Most technical due diligence engagements are run by big consultancies who send junior analysts with checklists โ€” for โ‚ฌ15โ€“25k, six weeks, and a 60-page report you'll skim once.

I do this differently: one senior engineer with 25+ years of real production experience, a focused 3โ€“5 day engagement, and a written report you'll actually read. I look at the codebase, infrastructure, architecture, security posture, scalability risks, and team maturity โ€” and I tell you what I'd be worried about if this were my money.

This works for three audiences: founders who want an independent check on their own dev team before a milestone, founders preparing for acquisition who need a clean technical assessment for the data room, and angel investors or smaller PE firms who don't want to pay Crosslake rates for a Series A check โ€” Finland-based (UTC+2), NDA-friendly.

What's included

  • Codebase quality review: maintainability, test coverage, dependency health
  • Architecture assessment: scalability, single points of failure, technical debt
  • Security posture: authentication, data handling, common vulnerabilities
  • Infrastructure and deployment review: CI/CD, observability, resilience
  • Team and process assessment: documentation, knowledge concentration, on-call readiness
  • Written report with executive summary, risks ranked by severity, and remediation cost estimates

How I approach this

01

Scope agreement

30-minute call to agree on scope: what's in scope, who I'll need access to, what the output should answer. Fixed price, fixed timeline.

02

Repository and infrastructure access

Read-only access to repos, infrastructure dashboards, monitoring tools. NDA signed before any access. Optional 30-min interviews with key engineers.

03

Deep review (3โ€“5 days)

I read the code, run the tests if any, examine the architecture, check security and infrastructure. No assumptions โ€” I document evidence as I go.

04

Written report and walkthrough

Structured report: executive summary, ranked risks, deal-breakers vs. fixable issues, remediation cost estimates. Followed by a 60-min call to walk you through it and answer questions.

We had an acquisition offer on the table and I needed to know whether our own codebase would survive the buyer's technical review before I walked into that room. Iurii did a five-day independent audit and gave me a written report I could actually act on โ€” what was solid, the two things that would raise flags in a data room, and what it would take to fix them first. He caught an undocumented dependency on one ex-contractor's private package that would have been a red flag the moment their team looked. We cleaned it up before diligence started, and the deal closed without a single technical concession. Best money I spent on the whole process.
