Developer-first SaaS API for EU VAT validation via VIES with Redis caching, change monitoring, and webhook notifications.
I have been building software for 25+ years, from PHP and MySQL to TypeScript, Python and production AI systems. I work hands-on from architecture to production, and I stay with a system after it ships.
For 12 years I was the only person responsible for the technology of a logistics company: every system, every integration, and every decision about what to build and in what order. Later, as Head of Development at a manufacturer, I built the IT side of an international e-commerce business from scratch, including the order pipeline, the integrations and an AI support assistant.
Alongside that I build and operate my own SaaS products, so I know what a system looks like when it has users, invoices and an on-call rota of one. That is why I care about the unglamorous parts: queues that do not lose messages, migrations that do not break a running release, and logs you can search at 3 a.m.
Web applications from first commit to production: data model, API, interface, deployment. TypeScript, React and Next.js on the front, Node.js and Python behind it, PostgreSQL and Redis for state.
Order pipelines and system-to-system flows built on queues (BullMQ, Redis), webhooks and REST APIs, designed to survive retries, duplicates and partner outages. One production order pipeline completes 99.4% of orders without human intervention.
REST APIs with authentication, rate limiting and webhooks; relational schemas with backward-compatible migrations; billing and invoicing flows that keep money in integer units and make every retry idempotent.
Docker, self-hosted deployments on Coolify, CI/CD, structured JSON logs and Sentry. I run what I build, so I design for the person who gets the alert.

Architecture, code, deployment and what happens at 3 a.m. are the same personโs problem. That keeps decisions honest: nobody ships a design they will not have to operate.
I pick well-understood tools and use their current versions. I upgrade deliberately, one major version at a time, with the changelog read and the checks run.
Validate at the boundary, refuse bad input early, do not hide errors behind fallback values. Every service logs structured events with a request ID, and errors that need action reach me.
Anything that can be retried, will be. Webhooks, queue jobs and payments carry a deduplication key and can be run twice safely.
Every change answers a concrete problem. I do not rewrite working code because another approach looks cleaner, and I keep the scope of a task to the task.
Authorization is checked in the handler that does the work, secrets live in the environment, and money is never a float.
